Holding kick mitts for each other

We have enjoyed practicing karate at Mihama Community Center today.

Kick mitt is a popular practice menu for children. Until today, the instructor hold mitts, and the children were lined up and kicked in order, but from today we started practicing to hold mitts for each other.

To tell the truth, just like kicking, or maybe more than that, holding mitts requires some technics and practice.

If you make a mistake, you may lose your balance or your hands may hit your face or body. In order for the kicking side to be stable and kick with a good sound, it is necessary to practice on the receiving side.

On the receiving side, it is also effective as a preparation for the kumite, such as grasping the sense of distance of the kumite and overcoming the tension and fear of being attacked.
